A Website Hosting Service is a when a provider's server has been set up to house a web pages so that they can be accessed over the internet.
A Domain Name is used to identify particular web pages (i.e. jbwebdesignservices.com). Domain names will have one of the following basic types of suffixes: .com (commercial business), .org (non-profit organization, .net (network organizations), .edu (educational institutions of higher learning), and .gov (government based websites).
The Maximum Length of a Domain Name is 63 characters (letters, numbers, dashes) plus the 4 characters for the extensions such as [.COM]. This allows a domain name (including the extension) to be 67 characters long.
The Billing is handled with the hosting cost being paid in a yearly sum up front. The web design bill will be due upon the completion of the website. If you are a current customer, your hosting renewal will be due on the anniversary of the creation of your hosting account. We accept cashiers checks or personal checks for payment. Internet search engines (eg Google, AltaVista) help users find web pages on a given subject. The search engines maintain databases of web sites and use programs (often referred to as "spiders" or "robots") to collect information, which is then indexed by the search engine. Similar services are provided by "directories," which maintain ordered lists of websites, eg Yahoo!
Search engine optimization is the process of choosing targeted keyword phrases related to a site, and ensuring that the site places well when those keyword phrases are part of a Web search.
A keyword is a word or phrase that a user believes is relevant to the information he or she is seeking. The user enters keywords into an online search form. The search engine then examines each record in its database to find those documents that match the keywords. A keyword search(as opposed to a concept search) is a search for documents containing one or more words specified by the user.
A meta tag is a special HTML tag that provides information about a Web page. Unlike normal HTML tags, meta tags do not affect how the page is displayed. Instead, they provide information such as who created the page, how often it is updated, what the page is about, and which keywords represent the page's content. Many search engines use this information when building their indices.
HTML is s hort for HyperText Markup Language, the authoring language used to create documents on the World Wide Web.
